Lateral Start

Save your knees by driving off the back leg, opening your hips, and sprinting forward from the second step! Physics says the back leg is positioned to produce force in the right direction (equal and opposite). To produce productive force off the front leg, Coach Bert would have to lean waaaaay over the front leg, which puts strain on that knee AND tells whoever is matched up on her in a sports situation where she’s planning to go. If this is new to you or a pattern you need to work on, start slow and then integrate it into sprints.
